Sigma Corporation announced development of the 85mm F1.2 DG | Art on 26 February 2026: a full-frame 85 mm F1.2 prime for L-Mount and Sony E-mount, with a planned launch in September 2026. A prototype was shown at Sigma’s CP+ 2026 booth. Sigma’s own notice says appearance and specifications can still change.
What Sigma has actually said: latest optical design aimed at resolution wide open; compact, lightweight intent; autofocus by a dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) system; and that this 85 mm completes an F1.2 Art trio with the 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art and 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art. That trio framing is the story — not a rumor blog inventing a filter size.
What is deliberately omitted here: mass, length, filter diameter, optical formula, MTF, and price. Secondary write-ups have floated an 82 mm filter; that is not in Sigma’s development notice, so it stays out. No Buy buttons while the lens is still in development.
