HIGHLIGHTS
Insta360 frames Luna Pro for everyday / lifestyle vlogging — “today’s lifestyle creators,” plus travel and social content, with native 4K vertical for short-form. It pairs a Leica Summicron with a 1-inch 8K sensor, 8K Dolby Vision, 10-bit I-Log, and the same detachable 2-inch OLED remote/mic as Luna Ultra, without Ultra’s second lens.
Insta360 calls the Pro “the simpler and more affordable option.” PetaPixel: same main camera as Ultra, minus the secondary 3× optical zoom module. On Insta360’s store, the Pro costs US$170 less than the Ultra ($599.99 vs $769.99).
Where the Pro beats the Ultra is vertical video: it records native 4K30 9:16, oversampled from 6K, while the Ultra’s vertical video tops out at 3K.

Luna Pro vs DJI Osmo Pocket 3
The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is the pocket gimbal camera most often cross-shopped with the Luna Pro. Both use a 1-inch sensor and a 20mm-equivalent lens. Here is how DJI's own specs compare with the Luna Pro's.
Video: Luna Pro records up to 8K30 with Dolby Vision. Pocket 3 records up to 4K at 60fps, with 4K at 120fps in slow motion.
Vertical video: Luna Pro shoots native 4K30 9:16. Pocket 3's 9:16 mode goes up to 3K (1728×3072) at up to 60fps.
Lens: Luna Pro has a Leica Summicron 20mm f/1.8. Pocket 3's 20mm-equivalent lens is f/2.0.
Screen: Luna Pro's 2-inch OLED detaches and works as a remote up to 20 m with a built-in mic. Pocket 3 has a 2.0-inch touchscreen.
Storage: Luna Pro has 47GB built in plus microSD. Pocket 3 has no built-in storage and takes microSD cards up to 1 TB.
Weight and battery: Pocket 3 weighs 179 g, and DJI quotes 166 minutes, tested at 1080p/24fps with Wi-Fi and screen off. Insta360 quotes 240 minutes for the Luna Pro at 1080p24.

Detachable 2-inch OLED screen that works as a remote

No telephoto module or Triple AI Chip; those come with the Luna Ultra, which costs $170 more
