Who should buy which
Buy the M50 if…
- You shoot stills with One-Shot AF: the sensor, DIGIC 8, finder, screen and 10 fps bursts are the same.
- You don't need vertical video, webcam use or live streaming.
Buy the M50 Mark II if…
- You film yourself or stream: vertical video, tap-to-record, a movie self-timer, YouTube Live and webcam use.
- You track moving subjects: Eye AF works in Servo AF and in movies.
- You shoot in dim light: AF down to −4 EV vs −2 EV.
- You want more shots per charge: about 305 vs 235 (CIPA, screen).
Both bodies share the sensor, processor, finder, screen, 10 fps bursts, 4K/24p and weight, so the choice is mostly autofocus and creator tools. See our full M50 and M50 Mark II reviews, or all comparisons.
