Fujifilm X-S20 vs Sony a6700

Two 26MP APS-C hybrids from 2023 that weigh within 2 g of each other, both with 5-axis in-body stabilization, 10-bit 4:2:2 video, mic and headphone jacks and one SD slot. The X-S20 leans to stills and travel: a 7.0-stop stabilization rating, Film Simulations, a pop-up flash, 6.2K video and an NP-W235 battery rated for about 750 shots. The a6700 leans to video and autofocus: AI subject recognition including insects, 4K up to 120p, S-Log3 and a weather-sealed magnesium body.

Who should buy which

Buy the X-S20 if…

  • You mostly shoot stills and want Fujifilm color straight out of camera with Film Simulations.
  • You want the higher stabilization rating (7.0 stops, CIPA) and a pop-up flash.
  • You want 6.2K video or a battery Fujifilm rates for about 750–800 shots.

Buy the a6700 if…

  • Video comes first: 4K up to 120p, S-Log3 and S-Cinetone.
  • You shoot birds, insects or vehicles: Sony's AI subject recognition from the AI processing unit.
  • You want a weather-sealed magnesium body and a Multi Interface Shoe with digital audio.

Same class, same weight and both stabilized, so the choice is stills, color and a flash versus video features, AI autofocus and sealing. The two stabilization ratings are each maker's CIPA figure with its own test lens. The viewfinder magnifications are shown as each source gives them; they use different bases, so they aren't directly comparable. See our full X-S20 guide and a6700 review, or all comparisons.
