Who should buy which
Buy the a6400 if…
- You want the lighter body: 403 g vs about 493 g with battery and card.
- You shoot mostly stills with stabilized lenses and 24.2MP, 11 fps and Real-time Eye AF are enough.
- You want 4K/30p with S-Log and a flip-up screen for vlogging.
Buy the a6700 if…
- You want 5-stop in-body stabilization for unstabilized primes.
- You shoot birds, insects or vehicles: AI subject recognition from its AI processing unit.
- You shoot video: 4K up to 120p, 10-bit 4:2:2, a headphone jack and a vari-angle screen.
- You want more shots per charge: 570 / 550 vs 410 / 360 (CIPA).
Both bodies shoot 11 fps, use a 2.36M-dot finder and one SD slot, so the choice is mostly stabilization, video, AF subject recognition and battery versus weight. See our full a6400 and a6700 reviews, or all comparisons.
