HIGHLIGHTS

Sony positions the FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G for landscapes, architecture, sports, and video — circular-to-diagonal fisheye in one zoom — plus spatial/VR work with dual VENICE Extension System Mini rigs, at an everyday-carry 314 g. It is Sony’s first native FE fisheye zoom G (not a GM), filling a hole versus a prior first-party path often described as converter-based; the maker claim is “first fisheye zoom G Lens for full-frame Alpha E-mount.” It does not replace the FE 400mm f/4.5 GM and FE 600mm f/6.3 GM, which Sony announced separately on September 15, and the PR we opened does not frame it as replacing a prior FE fisheye prime SKU.

The defining tradeoff is one compact zoom covering circular→diagonal fisheye with AF and G optics at $1,599.99 versus a specialty niche (fisheye distortion always on) and no front filter thread (rear gel only per coverage).

What changed from the rumor coverage

Our September 8 rumor trio bundled an unconfirmed 8-14 with leak ~$1,499 alongside FE 400/4.5 GM and FE 600/6.3 GM — no official cutout. That rumor page is left unchanged as the historical record.

This follow-up is 8-14 only: SEL814G is now Official / Real at $1,599.99, with locked weight/size/controls/availability and official Alpha Universe cutouts. The FE 400mm f/4.5 GM OSS and FE 600mm f/6.3 GM OSS were announced on September 15 and are covered on their own page.
