HIGHLIGHTS

Why it exists. Canon U.S.A. introduced the R7 and R10 as "Canon's first EOS R-series models with smaller-size APS-C imaging sensor", and said: "The EOS R10 is perfect for content creators looking for a camera option to capture high-quality action videos and images of sports, wildlife, and motorsports." Its autofocus subject detection is "inherited from EOS R3", Canon's professional sports body.

Canon announced the EOS R10 on May 24, 2022 at $979.99 body-only, $1,099.00 with the RF-S18-45mm and $1,379.00 with the RF-S18-150mm. It uses a 24.2MP APS-C sensor and DIGIC X, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II that detects people, animals (dogs, cats and birds) and vehicles, up to 15 fps with the mechanical shutter and 23 fps electronic, 4K/30p oversampled from 6K, a 2.36M-dot finder, a vari-angle touchscreen, a pop-up flash and a UHS-II card slot, in a body of about 429 g with battery and card.

Our gallery comes from four photographers: Asian green bee-eaters, a winter path at the Untreusee, Haus Behrens in Darmstadt, a locomotive on the Torne River railway bridge in Finland, the Mustavuori rail tunnel at ISO 6400 and a common hoopoe. Who should buy it? Buyers who want fast autofocus and bursts in a small RF-mount body. Its limits, per Canon's own spec sheet: no in-body stabilization, no water or dust resistance, no Canon Log, a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port and about 260 viewfinder shots per charge (CIPA).
